February brings a stark reminder of a tragedy that spans three years – it has been three years since Russia launched a full-scale attack on Ukraine and its people. This conflict has left deep scars and irreparably altered the lives of many people. Many have lost loved ones, homes and homeland, suffering losses that are impossible to measure.

We stand with the people of Ukraine in solidarity and support for their struggle for freedom, independence and peace. We invite the University of Latvia community on 24 February at 9:00 to observe a minute of silence, remembering all the victims of war and honouring their memory. Let us pause for a moment to express our unity and alliance.

This minute of silence will be a symbol of our solidarity, proving that the Ukrainian people are not alone.

Together we are stronger.
