On September 6 at 17.30 at the University of Latvia, Faculty of Business Management and Economics, Room 417 (Aspazijas bulvāris 5, Riga) there will be a guest lecture „Organisational Mindfulness - A New Perspective on Organisational Change” by Dr. Guido Becke.

About the guest lecture Due to economic globalisation, companies often intend to adapt to dynamic markets by more or less permanent reorganisation – however, often accompanied by unintended side effects, as a decline in employees‘ motivation and performance, an increase of psycho-social stress at work and enhanced job insecurity. The concept of organisational mindfulness facilitates a dynamic stability of organisations by focusing on organising principles which enable managers and employees to cope with the unexpected in permanent change and to build up resources sustainably. The concept of organisational mindfulness is introduced by the example of a German research project on organisational change. Afterwards he worked for more than a decade at the Social Research Centre, a federal research institute of the county Northrhine-Westphalia, based in Dortmund. Moreover, his research involved the design of work in different sectors, e.g. Public Transport and Automobile Industry. In 2001, Guido Becke received his doctorate in Sociology.
