From April 7th to 10th, 2014, Faculty of Economics and Management of the University of Latvia for the second time hosted international student scientific seminar, within which 2nd year students of Business Administration students together with students from The UNIVERSITY of BANKING of the NATIONAL BANK of UKRAINE (LVIV) researched economic cooperation possibilities, issues of foreign investment attraction, trends of financial sector development in both counties.
In the end of seminar students presented to others results of their research. In the lecture of international economic relations by professor B.Šavriņa, second year students had a chance to listen to presentations of Lviv students concerning economic situation in Ukraine.
Same as last year, seminar was organized by the director of Business Administration study programme professor Margarita Dunska and Ukrainian students were accompanied by Professor Zoryana Lapishko from Finance Department of the University of Banking of the National Bank of Ukraine (Lviv). Professor Z.Lapishko believes that „conducting of international students scientific seminars is one of the most efficient forms of cooperation between educational institutions. Students get a chance not only to find out more about the economy, peculiarities of conducting business, political and social aspects of life in other country but to share their own experience, exchange some knowledge and to establish friendly relations, which in future can lead to some mutual business or other type of cooperation”.
During the week of seminar guests from Ukraine visited FEM Business Incubator, met members of student self-government, as well as visited the Bank of Latvia and Financial and Capital Market Commission.
Students themselves are very satisfied with the whole event and 2
nd year student of Business Administration study programme Līna Kaģe comments „it was very interesting to obtain information about financial systems of Latvia and Ukraine, spend quality time with interesting people. I am very pleased that we managed to prepare presentations and to cooperate so efficiently, and I am even sad that they have to leave, as during these 5 days we have become friends”.
Both students and organizers of this event hope for successful further cooperation between Faculty of Economics and Management of the University of Latvia and University of Banking of the National Bank of Ukraine (Lviv), as hosts and also as being guests as well.
