From July 15th-19th, 2013 Faculty of Economics and Management of University of Latvia hosts international Business and Economics Summer School 2013. Summer school is organized annually by Campus Europae every time in different partner university and, after success of first summer school in University of Aveiro in Portugal, this year Riga and University of Latvia welcomes 18 students from Portugal, Spain, Greece, Poland, Lithuania, Finland, Russia and Latvia.
Main focus of this year’s summer school is – economics and management of innovation: overcoming economic crisis and its social consequences. Since the topic is current in the whole of Europe and it impacts numerous fields and sectors, students also were from different level of studies – undergraduate, postgraduate and even doctoral students. Guest lecturers of summer school represent University of Aveiro in Portugal, Vytautas Magnus University in Lithuania, Tallinn University of Technology in Estonia, University of Alcala D’Henares in Spain, Aalborg University in Denmark, Lodz Technical University in Poland and University of Latvia.
Intensive summer school program is planned in inter-disciplinary format reviewing challenges of innovations from various aspects. Students attend lectures, seminars, learn case studies and participate in simulation game and in the end of summer school field trip to local food processing plant „Spilva” Ltd is planned. After lectures international students and lecturers have opportunity to get to know city of Riga and University of Latvia in excursions and other activities. In conclusion of summer school participants receive certificates, as well as 3 ECTS.
