The University of Latvia launches support for student entrepreneurship activities

The Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management, University of Latvia Maris Purgailis about the Business Incubator of the University of Latvia: „The aim of the Business Incubator is to encourage the interest of students and to support the start and development of entrepreneurship and business teams. This is a way how students can learn by doing and will graduate from the university both with a diploma, which testifies the knowledge and successful business experience. Students will be able to get support starting from consultations about business ideas to physical sales stand in trading center.” The Business Incubator has received 12 applications, from which 10 have already been accepted. The business ideas of the students of UL come from various areas – informational technologies, internet products, technological solutions for dwellings and consumer goods, hospitality and service area, as well as accountancy services. Kristians Licis, the future Business Incubator participant is glad about the opening of Business Incubator which corresponds to the realization of his business idea: “This is a great opportunity for me as a student to carry out my business idea. Me and my colleagues were looking for a place where we could implement our business, but other offers for starting business were too expensive for us. The Business Incubator of the University of Latvia came just in time. We will start our business and see how it goes, but for now it seems promising.” In addition to provided working places and consultations in the Business Incubator, additional events for students that will help them to find a business idea, to establish a competent team and start business will take place. The Business Incubator of the University of Latvia will be opened by the rector of the University of Latvia Marcis Auzins, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management Maris Purgailis and the head of the Business Incubator Mikus Losans. In addition speeches to the new entrepreneurs will be given by the Adviser of the Minister of Economics Ilona Platonova and the head of the Project development department of Investment and Development Agency of Latvia Guntis Lauskis.
