What is the MindTour project?
- MindTour is an international research project that aims to create accessible tourism and leisure services for people with mental disorders. The project is carried out by the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology at the University of Latvia, Thomas Moore University (Belgium) and Tartu University (Estonia).
What activities does the project MindTour offer to students?
- International training webinar about designing and adapting tourism and leisure services for people with mental disorders. Webinar takes place on September 27-28 and October 4-5, 2021.
- Developing new tourism and leisure service ideas and prototypes together with other students, researchers and the recreation center Zeit in Līgatne (October-March).
- Presenting the ideas and prototypes to the involved partners (Spring semester, 2022)
What are the benefits from joining the MindTour study group?
- Certificate about participation in the international training webinar and gaining theoretical and practical knowledge about adapting tourism and leisure services to people with mental disorders.
- A chance to work together with other students and researchers from various fields.
- If you consider writing your bachelor’s or master’s thesis on this topic in the academic year 2021/2022, you can get consultations and support from the project researchers.
Who can participate in the study group?
- Any 2nd - 4th year bachelor’s level student or master’s level student at the University of Latvia.
What do we expect from the students applying to the project?
- Interest about creating an inclusive society and developing accessible leisure and tourism services to people with mental disorders.
- Fluency in English.
- Willingness to work in a team.
- Participation in the training webinar in the afternoons of September 27-28 and October 4-5, 2021.
- Creative approach, responsibility, and active participation in the project during the academic year 2021/2022 (we plan to have monthly meetings).
