The staff of the International Mobility Unit (IMU) serves as representatives and advocates for foreign exchange students in dealing with Latvian government agencies, other university’s offices and departments. IMU is responsible for the admission of the exchange students. IMU makes sure that exchange students obtain university’s housing, organises the introduction meeting and in cooperation with Erasmus Student Network and Student Council - a variety of excursions and events for international exchange students during the semester (at which Latvian students are also welcome). Advice and support regarding exchange students’ enquiries and problems are available for the students at any time. All exchange students during the registration week should visit the IMU in order to register at the University of Latvia. After registration students will be able to apply in the Students Services for the student card of the University of Latvia. Students who receive scholarship from

First 40 graduates of the UL Young Lecturer Programme

The University of Latvia (UL) continues to advance its academic potential by purposefully investing in the professional development of its lecturers. This autumn, the first 40 participants who successfully passed the competition and participated in the young lecturers programme, received their certificates of professional development. Prospectively, such training is to be organized once a year and is part of the future pedagogical growth support system. Institute is composed of 4 research units: Laboratory of Magnetic Hydromechanics, head Linards Goldsteins , Dr. phys. Laboratory of Heat and Mass Transfer, head Elmars Blums, Dr. hab. phys. Laboratory of MHD Technology, head Andris Bojarevics , Dr. phys. Laboratory of Theoretical physics, head Agris Gailitis , Dr. phys. The institute is managed by scientific council that consists of 13 scientists. Council's chairman - Dr. phys. Agris Gailitis . Members, directorand the chairman of the council are elected every 5 years.Current director of Institute of Physics - Dr. Phys. Leonids Buligins .Other structural units: administration, accountancy, journal " Magnetohydrodynamics " editorial board.
Acceptance

After receiving the application documents from all prospective exchange students International Mobility Unit contacts the respective faculties in order to receive their acceptance/approval. The admission decision will be made by the Director of the chosen study programme at the Faculty. Around 1.5 months after the application deadline the accepted ERASMUS+ and bilateral exchange students receive from the International Mobility Unit an official Acceptance letter. All exchange students receive Acceptance letter by email (together with information about the accommodation possibilities - Accommodation ). Students should check emails regulary. Students who had applied for the place in the university’s dormitory are requested to make the choice and reply to the acceptance email till the certain date mentioned in the acceptance letter and email. It is very important that students notify the International Mobility Unit (not only the faculty) immediately, if there is a change
